Our tenth photograph from turn of the century Tibet / Indian subcontinent shows a group of Tibetans sat outside a chortern. Chorterns are Lamaist structures that scatter the rugged and expansive Tibetan landscape.

The word ‘Mani’ means jewel but is also the name of a village in Tibet, so its inclusion in this photograph’s annotation could either mean this chortern is near the village of Mani or that it contains jewels among the various sacred object stored within.
